Report Details

Walking through the woods I saw a few Trillium. The dune you cross to the beach looks unchanged but this is my second time walking this area. I was the only one on the south side of Tahkenitch Creek. It looked like the person on the north side of Tahkenich Creek was picking up pink flag that surround the snowy plover nesting area. I'm not sure how they got their trucks on the beach. Not sure that is a legal spot to be. I have not been on the north side on the creek. Anyone know how to do that? Beautiful gray day the ocean sounded like a distant freight train going really fast. Even though is was low tide it seemed like the water was up.

Human Activities

I saw 2 white pick up trucks on the beach across the Tahkenitch creek. the water is too high for me to feel comfortable crossing even though it was low tide. I noticed someone picking pink flags that were on the outside of the area that appears to be sectioned off for snowy plover nesting area.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks on beach, prohibited: 2.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Shells.

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune. looks like sand was pushed up onto the beach south of the creek. Lots of half buried shrubs

Takenitch creek and its associated estuary contained much lower water flow than in previous years with the outlet to the ocean approximately 10 feet wide and 1 foot deep (see pix).
