Report Details

Arrived to find a clear sunny beach with extensive winter erosion of the Takenitch west estuary. Takenitch creek was the lowest that I have observed with minimal (10' wide x 1' deep) outflow to the ocean. Fewer than normal sea birds were congregated at the mouth of the creek.

Temperature: 65 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Strong. Wind Direction: NW.

Very few gulls, no seals in surf, no sanderlings

Driftline Content

Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells, Small rocks, Styrofoam, Wood pieces. Less fishing debris than 2014

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune. Extensive European beach grass invasion
