Report Details
A pretty, quiet morning on the mile; only about 30 people and 5 or 6 dogs (unleashed) were out on the beach. People included a kite flyer, a bicyclist, and 4 kids building sand castles. For bird life there were only a few solitary gulls, although a squadron of 16 brown pelicans flew by without stopping. It was a very clean expanse of sand right around the time of a minus tide. A berm has formed at the water's edge, and behind it a depression holding water punctuated by rippled hummocks of sand. At places there were double berms and depressions. There was hardly any wrack line, only some bright-green seaweed in spots, one site of a gull-led crab massacre, and two spots with relatively small groups of translucent, cigarette-filter-looking creatures, or maybe casings. I've seen these before but have forgotten what they are.
