Report Details

It was disturbing to see so much debris/litter on this beach.  I have never seen this much on any Oregon beach in the 30 years i have been walking the Oregon beaches.

Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.

lots of shorebirds

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). lots of debris. All of it from the ocean (some might have come out of coastal towns, but this wasn't litter from beach goers at Mile 337)

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune, Evidence of wave overtopping. Evidence of high tides (King tide) impacts.

Actions & Comments

I did email Solve re: volunteer work on this mile and contacted Coastwatch @ the amount of debris/litter.
