Oregon Shores is glad to welcome aboard our new Communications and Database Manager, Chanel Hason.  Now that we have our new website in place, she will help us to put it to more and better uses, while also assisting us with maintaining our upgraded database, utilizing social media, and designing publications.

Chanel has been a passionate advocate for the ocean and the environment since she was five years old. She grew up in Los Angeles, California and graduated from California State University Monterey Bay with a B.Sc. in Environmental Science Technology & Policy, focusing on Marine and Coastal Ecology. Her studies took her to Australia, where she conducted multiple research projects with the University of Queensland on the Great Barrier Reef. In 2014, she worked in Puerto Rico as a Naturalist for the Jean-Michel Cousteau Ambassadors of the Environment program at the Dorado Beach, Ritz Carlton Reserve. She is currently a graduate student at Portland State University, earning her M.S. in Leadership for Sustainability Education.

She’s an avid photographer, knitter, runner, scuba diver, and world explorer.   Fun Fact:  Chanel was Miss Scuba USA in 2013, when she traveled to Malaysia to compete at the Miss Scuba International Pageant.
