No one was out on the northern part of this mile at 6 a.
Report Details
No one was out on the northern part of this mile at 6 a.m. on a calm, windless morning. Beach was clean apart from a dead marine mammal, possibly an elephant seal. No signs of injury; also no eyes and no odor. Three attempts to report and give photos to the stranding network were unsuccessful, Kelp, small stones and shell fragments marked the high line. Live critters were the usuals: gulls, cormorants, crows and flocks of sanderling-size birds. Sand hoppers were active in the dry zone. The southern half of this mile was about the same, apart from the carcass and a man walking a leashed dog. This parking area had 2 vehicles.
