Report Details

Big news on the southern stretch has been vicious westerly storm tides followed by king tides. As a result, much of the vegetated dune has been eaten away. What is left is maybe a 7-foot drop-off. Logs and lots of litter, mostly plastic pieces and bottles but also some Styrofoam. Eight people and two leashed dogs were out walking before the rain set in. Cloudy, 42 and 2.7-foot tide at 8 a.m. Crows and gulls alive on the beach; one dead shorebird. Also dead was a large and smelly marine mammal, probably a stellar sea lion. That will be reported shortly to the Stranding network.
