Report Details

Heading north from the Coquille River, the sea is taking back much of the logs accumulated closest to the upper parking lot, as well as farther up the beach. Lots of thin white styrofoam pieces and several chunks of the yellowish thicker kind used in construction. Live activity on a cloudy but calm morning was avian in nature: gulls clustered close to the jetty, Sanderlings pecking for food in wet sand, Canada Geese flying over, skittish shorebirds fleeing the woodpile. Two dead fish, unknown type, about 10 and 20 or so inches long. Kelp/algae, small rocks, wood pieces and ocean-based debris in the driftline. Dune erosion notable in many spots. One other person with leashed dog walked the foredune as we left.
