The main news on the section of Mile 102 south of the Coquille River at low tide around 7 a.m. consists of largish white styrofoam balls, uncharacteristically heavy, and some pliable substance looking like gray or brown rocks in the low-tide zone around the large rocks at the Madison Ave. access. They and assorted bottle debris filled a SOLVE bag, left at Washed Ashore. Nothing similar seen in Mile 101.Motor bike tracks visible in the sand at the South Jetty and Madison. Five vehicles in the parking lot. Six people--two fishing, the rest walking dogs mostly on leashes. Lots of gulls on shore, Canada geese in the air honking away, crows and ravens scrounging on the dry sand.

Notable Wildlife
Numerous gulls on shore, canada geese airborne, crows and ravens on beach.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Shells, Small rocks, Styrofoam. Lots of heavy white sytrofoam balls and dozens of non-natural balls shaped like rocks, brown to gray, resembling rocks.
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune, Evidence of wave overtopping.
Actions & Comments
Wave overtopping evident in sections of 102 south of the Coquille River dating from King/Storm tides last week. Driftwood logs shifted and/or added for the same reason.

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
