Report Details

Going south from the Coquille River, we encountered three walkers with dogs, one unleashed, on a clear morning before sunrise. It was in the 50s but felt colder because of the moderate north wind. Lots of small rocks were scattered midway on this stretch. Drift consisted of kelp, sea palms, some driftwood, crab molt and shell fragments. Small black birds clustered around the dune tops. Otherwise, there were gulls in the wet sand, airborne cormorants and the now-ever-present crow contingent.
