Despite a fierce north wind and closure of the road to the lighthouse until 6:45, I was surprised that 6 vehicles parked at the lower beach lot.

Despite a fierce north wind and closure of the road to the lighthouse until 6:45, I was surprised that 6 vehicles parked at the lower beach lot. The upper lot appears destined for the sea. Only 3 people, 2 with 3 dogs, were walking north on this half of the mile. A few gulls and lots of wee sand hoppers were the only other life forms. No litter or dead critters, possibly buried by the blowing sands. Drift line was occupied by small stones and shell fragments. What a difference on the southern half of this mile the next morning. It was calm and foggy at 5:30 and a bit warmer at 55 for a runner and a guy with 2 dogs. No litter or dead things here either. Stone beds, shell fragments and some kelp in the drift line. Gulls, crows and hoppers also here. Beach is building up noticeably closer to the South Jetty, covering large logs for the most part.

Natural Changes
Frequent north winds have shifted much sand to build up the beach on the southern half-mile, mostly burying large logs that drifted in during storm tides.
