Report Details

One vehicle was parked at the lot for the half-mile north of the Coquille River at 7:30 DST on a 45-degree morning close to high tide of 1.2 feet. Winds were light from the north. A few gulls and crows, crab molt, shell fragments, bull kelp and slender grass-like stuff marked the tide line. No litter. The half-mile south of the Coquille was quite different, as it usually is because the terrain and the occupants are distinct. Crows and gulls, of course, were there but also vocal black oyster catchers on the rocks and a flock of Canada geese displacing the occupants of Table Rock. Three vehicles in the parking areas, two surf fishermen, two people with a total of 3 dogs comprised the "crowd". No litter, some shells and crab molt otherwise. Storm and King Tide left their marks on eroded beach from the jetty south, most markedly at the Madison Ave. trailhead that now drops off about 7 feet.
