A dead seal with no visible injuries occupied the high-tide line at 6 this morning.

A dead seal with no visible injuries occupied the high-tide line at 6 this morning. About 10 feet away was a seal pup, alive but having difficulties. About an hour later on my return walk, the big seal was still there but the pup was not. Called the Bilderbacks later and Diane planned a necropsy. I went back before she arrived and took photos to pre-empt damage by birds.

A calm, overcast morning of 55 drew 8 folks and 4 dogs to the beach at 7 a.

A chilly NW wind didn't deter 9 folks -- 5 rock hunting, the others walking -- from hitting the South Jetty beach on an overcast morning with a low tide of 0.

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
