Report Details

Heading north from the Coquille River in the pre-dawn dark was pretty quiet. As the day developed, a smattering of gulls near the tideline was evident, but not much else. The beach was clean of litter. Scattered small rocks and beds of shell fragments were most notable. Otherwise, there were some crab molts and kelp in the high line, as well as a couple of new pieces of driftwood. A man with two dogs was the only other human presence on the beach, and they left before it was light out. But even in the dark in the 40s, there were salmon fishermen out in their boats on the river. No dead bodies of any sort, mercifully.
