Report Details

The remarkable part of the early walk north of the Coquille River was seeing a heron in with the gulls gathered in the wet sand near the jetty. Cormorants and pelicans were airborne on a cloudy but light-wind day. Sea palms, bull kelp, a scattering of bright green vegetation, stones, shell fragments, an occasional log and scattered litter marked the driftline. Three dead birds: two Common Murre and one possible grebe. No beach erosion was evident, unlike the southern part of this mile. Oh, the mosquitoes were vicious from the parking lot north.
