Light human use (8) on a clear, calm afternoon with a super-low tide; no dogs. Sand over rocks at Fivemile is still high from summer. Remarkable: a 3" Heptacarpus brevirostris shrimp with 3 spines on carapace (photo 5). Purple shore crab Hemigrapsus nudus (photo 2). Lots of Nereocystis and Postelsia clumps and individuals.

Temperature: 49 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: -1.0 feet.

Number of people: 8. Walking or running: 3. Sitting: 2. Photography: 2. A small, slow, quiet homebuilt plane (KitFox?) flew up the beach at about 200' AGL. (pic)

Notable Wildlife
Offshore rocks: 2 Seals and several Cormorants. On beach: flock of 20+ Sandpipers, 2 Harlequin Ducks, the ubiquitous Gulls. Intertidal: a 3" Shrimp with 4 spines on carapace (pic), orange tunicates, Common Green and Aggregating Anemones (underwater pic). Rocks on beach: lots of Limpets and a new cohort of Barnacles (pic), Purple Shore Crab (pic).
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 8. All were in driftline and way beyond identifying, at least by this amateur.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
One perfect Sand Dollar (pic)
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass. Lots of Nereocystis and Postelsia clumps and individuals

Tide was low enough to hike around Coquille point from Merchants Beach to Wisky Run Beach.
