Report Details

The South Cove appears much as it always does, beautiful and serene. Only myself, my partner and two other visitors during my visit. I have never noticed Black Oystercatchers in the cove before. They were at the tip of the furtherst north border of my mile. In addition to the abundant live tidal life, I found the remains of an octopus, one small purple shore crab, freshly dead and unscavenged, and also found remains of California Sea Lion in an advanced state of decomposition. I'm also including a photo of a snail that I hadn't seen before, Channelled Dogwinkle (Nucella canaliculata).

Mile 116

There was a beach hazard statement issued and I wanted to see what impact that would have as we were experiencing the first fine weather after so many weeks of cold rain. I was charmed by a family of six playing on the beach, the children even playing in the water.
