Mile 169 - North end Siuslaw South Jetty Road - July 27, 2017

The 8 people on this mile included 4 other people plus the four of us enjoying a beautiful, clear day walk on the beach. Two of my friends (from Hawaii) were completing a coast to coast trip...toes in the Atlantic and toes in the Oregon Pacific. A photo of them completing the trek is included.Again, as usual, very limited wild-life that included a small group of sanderlings, a crow, and 10 gulls. I may need a lesson on identifying the gulls. As they flew by, it appeared there were three different species...a lone, black tipped wing bird with a whitish body gliding the dunes, 6 with darker bodies (that didn't appear to have the dingy color of adolescents), and a small group 3 others.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). Very few crab casings. Shell were small broken pieces. Distribution of shells/small rocks was sporadic ranging from mostly light distribution to patches of heavy distribution.

Man-made Modifications

Typical to this area with several driftwood "huts."
