Report Details

Overall the amount of erosion of the bluffs along both Yachats Ocean Road and Ocean View Drive looked about the same. It seems inevitable that the ocean will continue to encroach on the adjacent roads. A lot of rocks no longer have barnacles, mussels and other sea life, most likely from of human activity (feet in particular). Finding several dead starfish was somewhat concerning, one of which may have been diseased.

Conditions

Temperature: 63 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: -1.0 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 17. Number of dogs: 6. Walking or running: 15. Sitting: 2. Work on Ocean View Drive was being done near an area that has been eroded. Looks like they are moving the road further in from the ocean bluff.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 17. RVs/Buses parking: 2.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Unusual concentration. I saw 4 dead starfish. One looked like it might have had beginning of wasting disease. I usually don't see that many dead starfish along here.

Driftline Content

Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt).

Man-made Modifications
