Mile 193 - Yachats Ocean Road Wayside, Yachats SP - September 10, 2013

Report Details

This mile encompasses two beaches: north of the Yachats River along Ocean View Drive and south of the river along Yachats Ocean Road. There is extensive erosion of the bluff on both beaches, such that both roads have been affected. There are also boulders on the north end of mile 193 to protect the bluff, at the end of which is a large house. There is also rock riprap along the north part of the Yachats River just west of Hwy 101 to protect the houses from wave surges. Two houses, one the former Landmark Inn, hover precariously on the side of the river.
