The dunes north of the rip rap (mid mile) to the end of the mile show slides and sloughing which, in some cases, have been exxagerated by human usage.

The dunes north of the rip rap (mid mile) to the end of the mile show slides and sloughing which, in some cases, have been exxagerated by human usage. The cliffs at the end of the mile continue to erode, killing trees and exposing grass roots. There were several wide -tire bike trails on the beach closer to the village of Neskowin.Except for a ledge being built up in front of Pacific Sands and The Breakers, the beach slopes gently eastward.

Temperature: 45 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 6.7 feet.

Number of people: 30. Number of dogs: 8. Walking or running: 25. Other Activities: 4 playing baseball; 1 bicyclist.
Notable Wildlife
3 crows, 2 seagulls
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Shells.
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune. From the end of the rip rap (mid mile) to the cliffs at end of mile there are several several slides/sloughing of the dunes which, in some cases, have been exaggerated by human usage.

The north 1/2 mile of 254 was recently eroded to the point that I did not recognize it.

One cannot help but notice the 120+ large clumps on entangled kelp all along mile 254.

The north half mile of 254 (after the end of the rip rap )has experienced serious erosion.

There is a marked difference between the 1/4 mile of rip rapped beach with its gentle slope and 2' shelf of sand blown against the rocks AND the north 3/4 mile where the dunes are receeding and are eroding in height.

It has been two months since my last observation and, of course, there have been many storms, a great deal of rain and high winds in that time.

One dead sea lion which I understand is all too common at this time on the Oregon Coast.
