Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Live mussels were dropped at regular intervals on the trail from Crescent Beach to Ecola Road, left to die and decay. Quite a few of them were crushed or stomped on. Based on the level of decomposition, it seems that this happened on the prior weekend, 06/12/21 or 06/13/21.

Actions & Comments

The sand bridge to Crescent Beach by Chapman Point is washed out, and most people are hiking to Crescent Beach via trails.  The black oystercatcher nest on the first Bird Rock at Chapman Point has hatched, probably around 06/11/21 or 06/12/21.  One chick visible, although there may be three chicks.  Parents are vocalizing with the chicks using "chick talk".  Two adult eagles flew over Chapman Point and the Bird Rocks, chased by gulls.
