Mile 99 is showing the effects of the winter storms, with a lot of plastic debris, and erosion of foredunes and bluffs along the creeks.

Total dead birds: 5. All 5 beached birds were in a state of decomposition,not recently expired/
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Gathered in excess of 10 gallons (5 bags full) of debris, mostly plastic bottles, plastic pieces, styrofoam, and nylon rope/line.
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune, Evidence of wave overtopping.
Actions & Comments
Johnson Creek and Crooked Creek both have caused some erosion of bluffs. There is significant erosion of vegetated foredune along the entire Mile 99, with loss of sea grass on the foredunes. There is also evidence in some areas of water from the east shore washing over the foredunes.

Mile 99 is now mostly flat, without the sand dunes seen on the last survey.

Although there has been over 9 inches of rain since October 1, both creeks (Johnson and Crooked) on mile 99 are at lower than expected levels of max depth of approx 5 inches at usual crossing spots.
